Thanks to all the supporters out there this Friday am in the rain – and no, I am not the Groton’s Fisherman, but if I grew a beard, there might be a resemblance. If you saw me last Friday night or this Friday morning – you be the judge. Separated at birth? Nah. Just stayin dry!
And for the record, I do have a recreational lobster permit in my name. Thank you for your support and be sure to vote for Greenwood for Assessor on April 27th. www.greenwoodforassessor.com

Tues 13 Apr 2010
The Greenwood for Assessor campaign aka “The Shoeleather Express” is continuing full speed ahead. I am really getting a work out every night as I work hard to get my message across to the voters.
Last Friday night was a bit wet, but with the proper raingear it wasn’t too bad. Thank you to my supporters on Adams and Squantum during the pouring rain. I was in the yellow head-to-toe suit with matching yellow boots. My wife and kids said that I looked like a lobsterman when I came home. I wish I had the lobsters to show for it…
This last weekend, besides sore feet and sunburn, I experienced my first dog bite while campaigning Luckily for me it was nothing serious. Apparently the dog just needed to introduce himself – soon afterwards I got him to sit and let me get me get my papers back from him. It must have been a misunderstanding – either that or I didn’t taste that good! It felt like a chapter out of the “Dog Whisperer.”
I continue to be amazed at the number of new comers to the town. A large percentage of the people I am meeting as I go door to door have been in the town 5 years or less. This is a significant change. Welcome to all those who found as we did over 20 years ago how nice a town Milton really is.
Keep an eye out for the grey Honda Odessey “Greenwood Campaign Headquarters” these next two weeks. When you see it, you will know I am working that neighborhood.
Thanks all for your continued support. Todd

It’s crunch time with only two weeks left. I will be out every day mornings and evenings getting the word out – so be sure to look for that big grey Honda Odessey with the green and white “Greenwood for Assessor” signs on it.
Here are a few photos of the van this week: Town hall on Monday and Glover School on Tuesday. Please honk or wave hello when you see it.

Milton Assessor race heats up
The Milton League of Women Voters candidates debate was held on Wed, Apr 7, 2010. During the debate, I outlined the three areas that I would work to improve if elected to the Milton Board of Assessors:
1) Access 2) Convenience 3) Transparency
Here is an explaination of these three points:
Access: Currently it is difficult to access relevant information about the Board of Assessors – such as how to fill out forms, when meetings are scheduled, what the agendas are, and what the minutes were. Also, the Board could be much more pro-active with providing useful taxpayer info – especially to seniors and new residents.
Convenience: For the last three years at least – NONE of the meetings were held at a convenient time for citizens with jobs. Meetings were held during mid-day – usually at 10am or 2pm which would require one to take time off to have an abatement request heard. This is a hidden tax. I would standardize all meetings to 7pm and notify citizens of meeting dates at least 2 weeks ahead of time when possible.
Transparency: As it stands now, public data about assessments is clunky and difficult to review at best. Many other communities in MA are doing a much better, more efficient job than we do. I have specific examples of systems that the town could implement now that would be more cost-effective and efficient that what we do today. And as importantly – this system could be used by nearly all of the other departments in the town.
It is time to A.C.T. Now! Vote for Todd Greenwood for Milton Board of Assessors.

This should be an interesting night as many candidates are going to be mixing it up again in a usually very well-attended event.
Last year my opponent refused to participate – so I am really looking forward to being heard.
Stay tuned for info about the event soon.
